50 nautical miles off the coast of Northern California
Pilot Bear Givhan takes N2132X up to 25,000 ft 50 miles off the coast of Northern California. The goal of this flight was to fly a spiraling descent profile from the 25,000′ down to sea level as the NASA OCO-2 satellite passed over head. Scientific Aviation provided trace gas measurements of CO2, H2O, CH4, CO, NO2 and Ozone. These in-situ measurements help to validate the satellite data.
